Provide an efficient, secure environment for sharing confidential business information with coworkers, partners, or customers outside the firewall. The WebEx application suite addresses all your architectural, cryptographic, and authentication demands.
The Cisco WebEx Collaboration Cloud offers better than 99.99% reliability, as well as robust security, to meet your strict requirements. There’s no requirement to upload or store your session content on our servers, and 128-bit SSL and AES encryption ensures privacy during transmission.
Unlike point-to-point solutions, WebEx applications run on hosted servers managed in a secure environment. Rely on these advanced security capabilities:
- Logging/auditing: Meet all system needs for maintaining a complete log of files, commands, and scripts, plus session recordings of all actions taken through the GUI, when recording meetings.
- Encryption/client authentication: Ensure data protection throughout the entire transmission, from desktop to server and server to desktop (AES/SSL encryption).
- Third-party attestations: Boost your privacy with WebEx services that are audited against strict ISO-17799 standards, with results provided in a detailed SAS-70 Type II report. Contact your Cisco account representative to request a copy of the PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLP SAS-70 report.
The Collaboration Cloud doesn’t store and forward meeting data from point to point. It’s a global network of specialized switches that ensures:
Your data is safe from loss or theft.
The WebEx Collaboration Cloud represents significant innovation and investment over nearly a decade to deliver a better meeting experience. It meets the needs of your entire organization by enabling your IT department to:
- Protect every meeting with multiple layers of security
- Comply with established standards
- Support the highest standards for availability and reliability
- Maintain fully redundant global site backup facilities
Meetings are productive, engaging, and reliable.
The switches work like the telephone network to switch and replicate data to attendees in real time. So every attendee sees every slide, every document, every video—at the same time—as it’s being presented.
WebEx works even for users who can’t install applications on their own desktops. This ensures reliability for every meeting participant.
Your platform is there whenever you need it.
Count on robust, adaptive operational support with Cisco WebEx Global Site Backup (GSB). WebEx GSB replicates each branded portal in real time to a geographically separate data center daily. In the rare case of a service interruption, WebEx GSB instantly and transparently synchronizes and switches traffic to the backup site over the dedicated WebEx Collaboration Cloud backbone.

Physical security, including verification and redundancies.
Physical security is the foundation of WebEx meetings. Cisco maintains fully redundant, secure Data Center facilities that are Tier 3 or above, plus two-factor physical authentication to access the facilities.
Network security and encryption.
At the network security level, the WebEx Collaboration Cloud manages 128-bit SSLv3 as well as AES transport layer encryption. Meeting attendees connect to the WebEx Collaboration Cloud using a logical connection from the application/presentation/session layers. There is no peer-to-peer connection between attendees’ computers. WebEx services also make use of VeriSign certificates for additional security.
Meeting security, including meeting rights management.
Meeting security enables hosts to regulate attendee access levels—including the right to attend a particular meeting. Each host can control in-meeting rights, including audio, chat, or instant messages. Plus, meeting participants link in to the WebEx Collaboration Cloud over an encrypted connection to protect against third-party intrusion or unauthorized capture.
The meeting security layer houses scaled switches and session managers. WebEx switching technology does not require meeting data to be stored on servers.
Cisco pursues more third-party validations than any other organization, and undergoes an annual independent audit to keep them. Plus, the WebEx Collaboration Cloud uses leading encryption technologies to protect data:
- VeriSign SSL technology, which uses 128-bit signed certificates to secure web sites by encrypting information and providing authentication
- 256-bit AES Advanced Encryption, an extremely secure block cipher used by the U.S. government—and others worldwide.
Take advantage of a fully redundant network—from the portals where hosts and attendees access meetings to secure data centers, services, switches, and databases. And count on the WebEx Collaboration Cloud whether you’re meeting with two people or holding an event for 2000 people.
Site security with password and meeting publication options.
At the outermost level, site security gives hosts the ability to select which privileges to assign to attendees. Each host can set meeting passwords, and choose to list meetings publicly, or keep them unlisted for privacy.

Further protect your data by using a branded portal that contains a unique URL and setting company-wide security parameters, preferences, and other attributes. There’s no need to reconfigure firewalls. WebEx supports the most secure client environments by using standard ports—http on port 80 and https on port 443.
Organizations that demand stringent security transmit data on the WebEx Collaboration Cloud.
